On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Department of Women & Child Development in collaboration with Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl, Mizoram State Commission for Women, Young Women’s Christian Association, Miss Mizoram Foundation, Women’s Studies Mizoram (MZU), State Social Welfare Board and All Mizoram Women Federation have organized the following programmes:

1. Talk show:

A pre-recorded Talk Show with a topic on ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ was broadcasted on DDK, Aizawl and 2 major local cable networks on the 8th March, 2022. The platform was also used for saluting Freedom Fighters as part of celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

2. Facilitation of Exceptional Mizo Women: 

This was held on the night of 8th March, 2022. The event was organized by the Miss Mizoram Foundation and was sponsored by Women and Child Development. Three (3) prominent women who have shown exceptional bravery and inspired other through their works were felicitated. These felicitated women were Pi Maria CT Zuali, Pi RTC Lalduhawmi and Gospel Lallawmzuali. The event was held at HYVE, Aizawl which was Live telecasted by 2 Local Cable Networks.

3. Three (3) Short Clips were developed with a Theme of: 

a.         IWD, 2022 Campaign Theme; ‘Break the Bias’

b.         Housewives’ Worth 

c.        How working women are often portrait as Empowered although they are often subjected to Domestic Violence and have no decision making power in the family.

           Apart from being shown on the Cable Networks, the above three clips were also being                highlighted in various social media platforms.

4. Awareness Program for National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) women beneficiaries was also organized in collaboration with SW&TA as part of celebration of International Women's Day and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM).
